Dedication is a musical tribute to African American men and women who have been instrumental in advancing civil and human rights through activism, the arts, sports, STEM, and entertainment. It features a biographical film presentation highlighting each individual's life and accomplishments, followed by a musical tribute to them performed by a live five-piece band supporting a dynamic vocalist.
The program takes students through history to the present day, showcasing eight iconic Americans whose lives have impacted the nation and the world. The music 'dedicated' to each icon is a mix of popular songs from various genres that resonate with students. The biographies of featured icons are projected on a large screen and through the ensemble's PA. All production aspects of Dedication are entirely self-contained and portable to facilitate bringing the presentation to students at their school's auditorium or gymnasium. It's a fun, educational, and thought-provoking 45-minute tribute that your school will not soon forget.
Dedication has toured annually for the past seven years, presenting this inspiring program to over ten thousand enthusiastic middle school and high students. The ensemble consists of A-list musicians who have individually performed, toured, and recorded with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Carlos Santana, Peabo Bryson, Gloria Gaynor, Wynona Judd, Anthony Hamilton, Jenifer Hudson, Maxwell, Chaka Khan, and many more! Clinics and group talkbacks exclusively for music students with Dedication band members are available as add-on activities.
